How long does it take to find work?
We recommend you sign up with KiwiOz as soon as you know you are available for work. Some of our nannies are placed within 1-2 weeks, however if you are moving abroad or have less experience you should expect the process to take around 4-8 weeks.
Are nannies employed through KiwiOz or through the family?
KiwiOz is a recruitment agency not an employment agency which means nannies are not paid by us. The family will pay you directly. Australian nannies can find out more about pay and tax here.
How does KiwiOz support nannies?
We have an active support network run through our Facebook page, blog and nanny network Café Nanny. We are always adding resources and chatting to our network online! You can also call us whenever you need help or have a question- our friendly consultants have all worked as nannies and are always happy to hear from you.
We are passionate promoters of nannies and are always eager to help you find information and resources to ensure you are delivering a high standard of care to your charges. If you are interested in moving abroad with KiwiOz we can help you step by step through the process and our consultants in London provide a friendly face on arrival!

What kind of job will I get?
We have a range of exciting nanny, mothers help and au pair roles suitable for all levels of experience. You can expect to earn anywhere between £200- 350 per week in a live in role in London, and between $300- 750 per week in a live in role in Sydney. We also offer daily positions however these are strictly limited to high calibre experienced nannies. They typically pay $25 per hour in Sydney and £10 per hour in London.
Hours vary from job to job however as a nanny or mothers help it is normal to work up to 60 hours per week including babysitting. Au pairs often work fewer hours- up to 45 hours per week.

How long will I need to commit to a job for?
• Most of our contracts are for 12 months
• With this you will receive 4 weeks of paid leave (full pay) and public holiday days (also at full pay)

Can I travel while I work?
Yes! Your annual leave provides ample time to explore while you work. Most of our nannies plan to work for 12 months travelling during their allocated leave and over long weekends. Often at the end of their contract they will then do a longer trip before heading home.
How will I meet people?
KiwiOz has a social network where our nannies make friends around the world and organise meet ups. We also highly recommend planning trips with companies such as Contiki Tours
What duties will I be expected to complete?
Your job will be to support the parents with childcare and help ensure the smooth and efficient running of the household. Nannies could expect to be in sole charge of up to three children whilst parents are at work. Mothers helps and au pairs are usually working with school aged children or alongside an at home parent.
It is normal to help with nursery duties including school runs, morning routines, meals, children's washing and ironing, keeping children's bedrooms, wardrobes and toys clean and tidy as well as focussing on the social, educational and emotional development of the children.

What if I don't enjoy the job once I have started?
Most of our nannies enjoy extremely successful placements and often become a part of the family they are working for. However, if you are unhappy in your role our consultants are available to support you, offer solutions and rematch you if problems cannot be resolved. All of our consultants have travelled abroad and worked as nannies so they understand the level of support you need and are never far away if you need support.
What about flights and insurance?
• We recommend you sign up to Air New Zealand who offer regular flight specials
• We recommend you shop around for travel insurance cover. STA is one provider to consider
IMPORTANT: You should not book your flight until your visa has been confirmed. Try to book your travel insurance before your book your flight.
